More news from D23 this evening with Disney debuting the first look at the new logo for the fifth installment from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Me Tell No Tales.

Pirate of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theatres in July 2017.
The Pirates 5 Orlando Bloom news doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as it’s been rumored and reported for months. While certified good looking person Orlando Bloom wasn’t present, Johnny Depp was – and he was dressed up in the full Captain Jack Sparrow costume (picture now unavailable, but check back soon!). Depp was in D23 in Anaheim, California, to promote that film, likely to join Disney’s growing list of blockbuster movies. When it premieres, fans will get a chance to see Bloom return to his role of Turner, alongside Depp’s Sparrow. But he, Keira Knightley, and a few other co-stars sat out On Stranger Tides in 2011. After the captain replies “Never heard of it”, he started tossing grapes to the audience, mimicking what Pixar boss John Lasseter did in the Friday presentation when Lasseter threw shirts to the audience.
It’s known that the plot will revolve around down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow, who is still trying to triumph against the deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis Captain Salazar.
Captain Jack this time has to track down the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which affords anyone who wields it total mastery over the seas.

The film is directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning and stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin R. McNally, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, David Wenham and Geoffrey Rush.
