The match is scheduled for October 25 at 3 p.m.
Coincidentally, one of Orlando City’s newest acquisitions, defensive midfielder Servando Carrasco, is married to U.S. women’s national team star Alex Morgan.
The U.S. Women’s National Team Victory Tour begins on August 16 against Costa Rica at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh (1:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1).
Rawlins said he’s working to bring a professional women’s team to Orlando. The Lions will play at 5 p.m. at the Philadelphia Union. More than 40,000 tickets have been sold for that match.
“I think we can surpass 20,000 [fans] by at least two times, maybe three times”, said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs. The stadium was also the training base for the U.S. team for both the 1995 and 1999 World Cups and 1996 Olympics.
The win over Japan was the most viewed soccer game in the history of American television. The USWNT last visited in Seattle in 2002, playing in a CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup match at Safeco Field.
Orlando City Season Ticket Members will receive a special pre-sale offer for this match so check your email in the coming days/weeks.
