The killer whose rampage left 49 people dead also searched for “Pulse Orlando” and “Shooting” online on the morning of the carnage Sunday and said on Facebook, “America and Russian Federation stop bombing the Islamic state”, according to the letter.
“I ask that you please provide all Facebook data on Mr. Mateen’s activities on his account and any affiliated Facebook accounts, including but not limited to activity logs, Facebook timeline information, Facebook messages, photos and posts”, wrote Johnson.
Salman, 30, has reportedly said she pleaded with her 29-year-old husband not to do anything violent at Pulse after he assured her he was going to see friends on Saturday night, NBC News reports.
Omar Mateen pledged allegiance to the so-called Islamic State in a 911 call prior to carrying out the attack, but USA officials haven’t found any indication he was connected to the terror group or that he was acting on its behalf.
The White House said Obama will also meet with emergency medical crews and hospital staff who worked tirelessly to save lives in the chaotic hours after the massacre by gunman Omar Mateen, who was killed when police stormed the club.
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have interviewed Omar Mateen’s wife, Noor Salman, in the days since Sunday’s massacre that also wounded 53 more. A law-enforcement official also told the network that Salman tried to call her husband multiple times during the standoff. Now, we’re learning a television producer said Mateen called him as well during the assault.
The committee sent the letter to Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, asking for help uncovering the trail of hate Mateen left behind in cyberspace. Breaking down in tears, she said Jorge-Reyes was “very loving”.
Stephany’s details come as the nation continues to grieve over those killed and the 53 injured by Mateen, who officials say sympathized with Islamic State.
On Sunday, 49 people died when Mateen opened fire and took hostages at the gay club. The terrorist group has since claimed responsibility for the massacre.
Shooting survivor Patience Carter said she was trapped in the bathroom of Pulse with Mateen with several other victims, alive and dead, when he was making phone calls. However, authorities are still investigating actual links between Mateen and ISIS.
Mateen’s wife has gone into seclusion.
The young man left empty-handed when an employee told him the store didn’t have either, and the worker called the Federal Bureau of Investigation to report a suspicious person, said Robert Abell, co-owner of Lotus Gunworks.

But Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, said his son didn’t have ties to the terror group – which he calls “the enemy of humanity”.
