Paulo Orlando drilled a Brad Boxberger pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to win Game One of the doubleheader for the Royals 9-5.

The doubleheader was caused by a massive storm that caused numerous tornado warnings in the Kansas City area Monday night.
“We just needed a sacrifice fly there”, Yost said.
In the opener, the Rays had rallied to tie it at 5 before Orlando came to the plate in the ninth.
RHP Matt Andriese will be called up as the 26th man and start the second game of the doubleheader.
Leading 5-4 entering the top half of the inning, Royals’ reliever Greg Holland threw a wild pitch past catcher Drew Butera, plating the tying run in Kevin Kiermaier.
Alex Gordon homered and Kendrys Morales drove in a pair of runs for the Royals, who won despite playing an unorthodox lineup due to injuries and other circumstances.
All-Star outfielder Lorenzo Cain got the doubleheader off due to an ailing hamstring. First baseman James Loney has made an impact with his glove and bat for Tampa Bay, going 4-for-13 with three RBIs in three games since returning from a fractured finger.
Jaso had been on the DL since bruising his left wrist on opening day….
The Royals will host the Rays tonight at 8:10PM ET in a game where bettors should cash on the under. Orlando’s game-winning slam was the fifth in franchise history and first since Justin Maxwell’s two years ago. RHP Andrew Bellatti (shoulder tendinitis) was activated from the disabled list.
Guthrie has yielded two runs in 12 innings in back-to-back wins over the Rays – both at Kauffman Stadium – and claimed the latest April 9, 2014.
Archer and Boxberger will be the only players representing the Rays at the All-Star Game, as no Tampa Bay fielders were elected as reserves and none were selected as candidates for the Final Vote.

Archer will try to do his part to seal his spot in his third career start against the Royals (48-33).
