Orlando shooter’s wife tried to talk him out of attack, NBC reports
Sitora Yusufiy, Mateen’s first wife, told a Brazilian television station through her fiancé on Monday that she believed her former husband had “gay tendencies”, and that his father had called him gay in front of her.

In between shooting and killing dozens of people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., homegrown terrorist Omar Mateen was checking Facebook – to see if his massacre was trending, a United States official said.
The official briefed on the investigation who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity. Sources told CBS News he searched for “Pulse Orlando” and “shooting”, perhaps to see if the massacre was trending online.
“He was trying to pick up people”. “He would walk up to them and then he would maybe put his arm around ’em or something and maybe try to get them to dance a little bit or something”.
Noor Salman, Mateen’s second wife, has avoided the press since the incident, and not much is known about her or her relationship with her husband. “I made peace with God”. “With him, it was just awkward stares”. “I want especially the wonderful President Obama and the heads of the governments in Europe all over the world to destroy and eliminate this group because they frame youngsters all over the world”. He said it was increasingly clear the killer “took in extremist information and propaganda over the internet”.
“In order to successfully prosecute the wife, they’re going to have to show she did something in furtherance of that crime”, Sheaffer said.
While the shooter claimed allegiance to ISIS during the attack, he is also thought to have been motivated by anti-gay feelings.
In Washington, Sunday’s shooting in Florida stirred fresh debate on gun purchases in the United States because Mateen was legally able to buy an assault rifle even though the FBI had investigated him in the past for possible ties to Islamist militant groups.
Johnson requested that Zuckerberg provide by June 29 all data on all of Mateen’s activities on Facebook, including logs, timeline information, messages and posts.
A senior law enforcement official told the New York Times that there was “an indication that she [Ms Salman] was with him [Mateen] in certain parts of the process, and we’re sorting through it”.

Authorities are considering criminal charges against Noor Mateen, according to ABC News. Those in the Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie area who had run-ins with the man have described him at points as both jovial and belligerent.
