Orlando shootings: Hundreds turn out at Dundee vigil
In just 24 hours since a lone gunman took the lives of 49 people in an Orlando nightclub, more than $1.6 million has been raised on the website gofundme.com from more than 41,000 donations.

“Authorities have blamed Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old American-born Muslim, for the attack”.
Several Pulse customers have told United States media that Mateen was a regular visitor to the nightclub.
“We will love and support the victims even as we join to eradicate the hatred that lies at the core of this violence”, said Mary Meeks, a prominent Florida civil rights lawyer. “We find a way to heal and support each other, and we remember the power of community”.
President Barack Obama is due to travel to Orlando on Thursday to pay his respects to the victims.
A small memorial is seen on the grounds of the Orlando Regional Medical Center where numerous victims from the Pulse mass shooting were taken June 13, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.
She said: “It is clear that such an attack has its root in a twisted ideology which counts homophobia as a cornerstone of its warped world”.
We applaud San Diego’s civic leadership – Mayor Kevin Faulconer, SDPD Chief Shelley Zimmerman, Susan Jester, Nicole Murray-Ramirez and others – who are now focusing on working together to do whatever it takes to protect the citizens of San Diego, especially as our community plans for San Diego PRIDE in July.
The vigil was held on Monday at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy Sini was among the officials who attended the vigil.
A vigil was also held in the Canal Street district in central Manchester, northern England – an area of the city that is filled with gay bars and restaurants.
Hundreds of people listen to speakers at a memorial gathering for those killed in Orlando in front of the iconic New York City gay and lesbian bar The Stonewall Inn on June 13, 2016 in New York City.
“This could have happened anywhere”, Paul Savage told AFP news agency at the candlelit vigil. Need we say more? This massacre left 49 members of the Orlando LGBT community dead and another 53 injuries.
Mr Mateen said: “It has nothing to do with Islam”.
FBI Director James Comey said there were “strong indications of radicalisation and of potential inspiration by foreign terrorist organisations”.

“Today, we have identified all 49 victims and we have notified the next of kin of all 49 victims”, Dyer said. When this attack happened in Orlando, that’s one of us.
