Apple’s latest OS X El Capitan beta for developers has a few hints about what’s in store for consumers. The possibility of the smaller iMac being given a higher display resolution is one that observers have been anticipating for quite a while now, especially considering that the 27-inch iMac already is a 5K resolution model.
An updated Bluetooth remote control could indicate that Apple is getting closer to completing its next-gen Apple TV set top device.
The current, super expensive 27-inch iMac boasts a 5K Retina display, though thus far the 21.5-inch model has featured a still impressive 2560 x 1440 resolution. The site has found references to Mac support for many different screen resolutions in the second beta of OS X 10.11.
There’s also a mention of Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200, the graphics chipset that accompanies Intel’s newest line of Broadwell processors.
The beta’s references to a new Bluetooth remote control include hints as to infrared sensor as well as Multi-Touch trackpad with inertial scrolling support. In addition, it is also believed to have some sort of audio support as well, however it is unclear if that indicates audio playback or the ability to dictate to Siri, The Verge noted.
The remote also points towards the anticipated Apple TV. Rumors of a new remote for the updated Apple TV have been making rounds for a while, and recent whispers claimed that Apple didn’t make an announcement at its WWDC 2015 because the hardware was not completely ready yet.
Apple launched new beta versions of OS X and iOS 9 to developers this week as well as a new test version of the next-gen WatchOS.
