The 63-year-old X Factor judge took a five-week emergency hiatus from co-hosting her USA daytime chat show The Talk in 2015 and has now admitted she was hospitalised for three days after a mental breakdown.
“It was really, really terrifying”, she said of the moment she woke up in at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and realized what was going on.
“I was doing too much of everything”. On today’s show, she opened up about her actual condition, which she described as a “complete and utter breakdown”.
She says her family were the ones who put her in a facility. The wife of Ozzy Osbourne said that she couldn’t think or talk at the time and that her brain basically shut down.
“Go to group therapy, ground your body and soul”, she advises those going through similar issues as her.
While she’s on top of her undisclosed condition now, Sharon went on to reveal that her brain shut down so badly at one point that there’s a 3-day period she simply can not remember! And in this facility, they diagnose you, there’s therapists and psychiatrists and they do a lot of group therapy and I found for me, the group therapy was the best thing I could do because there were several people suffering what I was suffering but it took me days before I could even speak. “I just have a bad head”.
Sharon Osbourne has had a hard year. “I didn’t want to talk, didn’t want to eat, didn’t want to speak to anyone”. While she came back to The Talk after a month leave of absence, she was soon coping with another traumatic event: The aftermath of her husband’s long affair with Hollywood hair colorist Michelle Pugh. “My head was like a whirlpool going round and round and round, and not one thought would stay in”, she said.

She went on to explain that her breakdown was triggered by overworking herself but she now wants her experience to help someone else. She recently told The Sunday Times that this was nothing new.
