Oscar earns Chelsea FA Cup date with Man City

Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea will take on Manchester City in the most high profile clash of the draw, with both sides with previous form in recent years of the competition.

The Premier League big guns will meet at Stamford next month after Chelsea cruised past Championship MK Dons 5-1 to reach the last-16.

With Chelsea steadily improving under interim manager Guus Hiddink-under whom they remain unbeaten-the two should produce an excellent encounter.

Holders Arsenal booked their place in the next phase with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Burnley at the Emirates on Saturday and Arsene Wenger’s men have been drawn to play Hull City for the third consecutive season.

Arsenal, of course, beat Hull City in the 2014 FA Cup final, and also faced Hull on the way to defending the trophy last season, with Per Mertesacker and Alexis Sánchez scoring.

League One strugglers Shrewsbury beat Championship Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 in a dramatic tie on Saturday, and have been rewarded with a visit from Louis van Gaal’s side.

Spurs will be hoping to take another step towards ending that long wait when they face Crystal Palace in a London derby at White Hart Lane. The Toffees, meanwhile, coasted to a 3-0 away win over Carlisle United on Sunday.

Elsewhere in the draw, there is only one tie that could potentially not involve a Premier League side, with Reading awaiting the victor of the replay between West Brom and League One side Peterborough.

Watford, 1-0 winners at Nottingham Forest, were drawn at home to Leeds, who won 2-1 at Bolton.

These games will be played across the weekend beginning Friday 19th February 2016.

However Chelsea are playing better football now and Man City won’t see this as an easy draw.

Shrewsbury, in the fifth round for the first time since 1991, will doubtless benefit from the TV and media exposure that comes with a home tie against Manchester United.
