He initially served one year of a five-year prison sentence for manslaughter, but the conviction was later overturned by an appeals court.
Latest reports have said that the fallen sporting star was treated for wrist injuries from falling out of bed and has since returned to his cell.
Pistorius, the first-ever double amputee to compete in the Olympics, rose to global fame as renown sprinter who ran on carbon-fiber prosthetic blades.
Pistorius had shown obvious remorse and was unlikely to reoffend, she said.
“He had bad cuts on his wrists and the doctors kept wrapping bandages around them”, a security guard at Kalafong Hospital told City Press. He slipped in his cell and injured himself.
Carl said reports that his brother tried to injure himself are sensationalist and completely untrue.
The report said blades were found in a subsequent search of Pistorius’s cell.
Another spokesman, Singabakho Nxumalo, said Pistorius had suffered the injuries in a fall.
Pistorius is serving six-year jail term for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.
Pistorius denied speculation of a suicide attempt, he said.
South Africa and the rest of the world were left stunned when Ms Steenkamp was shot and killed by Pistorius at his home in Pretoria. The court found him guilty of murder.
Following the upgraded jail-term, the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa announced its intention to appeal the “shockingly lenient” decision.

Pistorius, known as “Blade Runner” for his carbon-fiber running blades, gained worldwide fame when he ran against able-bodied athletes at the 2012 London Olympics, the first amputee runner to compete at the games.
