Pistorius told prison staff he’d been injured while falling out of bed, according to another spokesman for the corrections department, Singabakho Nxumalo.

Oscar Pistorius is serving a six-year jail term after he was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend.

He was admitted to the local Kalafong hospital at 12:30 p.m., security guards told the City Press.

Pistorious served an initial one-year sentence for manslaughter, although the conviction was later overturned and he was then convicted of murder.

According to City Press, an inmate situated close to the hospital section said Pistorius had injured himself intentionally.

Aimee Pistorius‚ their sister‚ is friends with Aimee and supported her in court during Oscar’s re-sentencing proceedings recently.

The South African is now serving a six year sentence for fatally shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in his home on Valentine’s Day, 2013.

Model Reeva was repeatedly shot through a bathroom door in Pistorius’ flat on Valentine’s Day.

Pistorius could be released on parole after serving just three years in prison.

A spokeswoman for the Pistorius family said she had no comment at this stage.

Pistorius had his jail term for killing Reeva Steenkamp increased from five to six years in July, less than half the 15 years sought by prosecutors – a term they called “shockingly lenient”.

Known as “Blade Runner” for his carbon-fibre running blades, Pistorius gained worldwide fame when he ran against able-bodied athletes at the 2012 London Olympics, the first amputee runner to compete at the games.

Judge Thokozile Masipa described the convicted murderer as a “fallen hero and broken man” who was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. However, prosecutors argued that Pistorius shot Steenkamp during an argument.
