City Press also reports that blades were subsequently found in Pistorius’ cell during a search.
It quoted a security guard at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria as saying the athlete had wounds to his wrists that were bandaged.
Pistorius denied speculation of a suicide attempt, Nxumalo said.
After receiving the treatment, the inmate was returned to the prison.
Olympic and Paralympic track star Oscar Pistorius leaves court after appearing for the 2013 killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, South Africa, June 14, 2016.
The National Prosecuting Authority announced on 21 July that it planned to appeal the sentence, as it believed the six-year sentence was disproportionate to the crime that Pistorius had committed.
They want him to be jailed for at least 15 years, with the six-year term prompting fresh criticism in South Africa and across the world.
He shot four bullets through a bathroom door in February, 2013.
Earlier on Sunday, correctional services spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, confirmed Pistorius was back in prison after being rushed to hospital following a medical emergency. Later, it emerged out that he intentionally shot her after a heated argument as neighbors told the police that they heard noises and screaming from the house that night.
After first being found guilty of culpable homicide, an appeals court upgraded his conviction to murder in December previous year.

Pistorius, known as “Blade Runner” for his carbon-fiber running blades, gained worldwide fame when he ran against able-bodied athletes at the 2012 London Olympics, the first amputee runner to compete at the games.
