Hanson followed LA Confidential with the comedy Wonder Boys, starring Michael Douglas and continued his winning streak with 8 Mile, starring Eminem and telling a fictionalised story about the rapper’s life. The most recent film he directed was the 2012 surfing movie Chasing Mavericks, which starred Gerard Butler. He was responsible for Eminem’s epic film “8 Mile” as well as so many classic films, so keep reading for more on his unbelievable career.
Hanson born on 24th March 1945 in Reno, NV and began his career in the early 1970s.
“If you’re hired as a director in Hollywood, you choose the best project they are offering you, but in LA Confidential, I have been the initiator and done what I wanted”, he had said. “Confidential” earned him an Oscar (for screenwriting) and vaulted him to A-list status as a screenwriter and director, has died”, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Hanson served as a producer on that critically-acclaimed drama, which also garnered him a Best Director nod in 1997, along with a Best Picture nomination for the movie itself. Credits that decade included the screenplay for 1978’s Elliott Gould-Christopher Plummer bank heist Silent Partner, a rare motion picture for its time in which Toronto did not stand in for another city.
Actor Rob Lowe tweeted: “It was an honour to make Bad Influence with Curtis Hanson”.
So sad to lose Curtis Hanson.
Hanson is probably best known for directing “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” (1992), “The River Wild” (1994), “8 Mile” (2002), “The Wonder Boys”, and the modern classic “L.A”. He also worked as a journalist and talked about how this affected his work as a director.
