Oscars fashion: Many of the red-carpet stars went soft

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander won the supporting actress Oscar on Sunday for transgender movie “The Danish Girl” as host Chris Rock pulled no punches in taking aim at the #OscarsSoWhite controversy dominating Hollywood. The gorgeous actress looked incredible on the Oscars red carpet, and we couldn’t help but notice how perfectly she channeled Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” in her yellow gown. Now, she’s probably celebrating in the greenroom with her main squeeze Michael Fassbender a.k.a she’s living our dream life. And what’s more elegant than that? We can’t wait to see what she has in store tonight when she performs her Oscar nominated song “Til It Happens To You” from the documentary The Hunting Ground. Saoirse Ronan, a best actress nominee for “Brooklyn”, paired her emerald green slinky sequined Calvin Klein gown with – mismatched earrings, one green and one white!

In the film, in which she stars opposite Eddie Redmayne, Vikander plays Gerda Wegener, the wife of a painter who was one of the first people to receive gender reassignment surgery in the 1920s.

“I really want to be part of the conversation so we have institutional change, so we never have a year like this again”, Washington told ABC television on the red carpet. “To get this is beyond anything that I imagined”. I am very serious about my work.

Rooney Mara was a vision in white Givenchy for her big Oscars moment in 2012 as a Best Actress nominee for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. 2 p.m. PT with “ON THE RED CARPET AT THE OSCARS”.

The young star looked emotional as she took to stage to accept her award from last year’s best supporting actor victor J K Simmons.
