That information was released a few hours after university officials held a news conference to provide more information on Coger, who passed away late Thursday afternoon.

Elliott’s email says Coger died from cardiomegaly with left ventricular hypertrophy. The final report from the medical examiner will likely not be ready and released for another eight weeks, according to a report from The Associated Press.

The AP originally reported Coger was 21, based on an OSU news release, but Shutt deferred Friday to the university police report on the incident, which lists his date of birth as December 20, 1993. It wasn’t clear whether that played a role in his death.

“Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy”. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through’. He says the past two days have been the most hard of his coaching career.

Cowboy Head Basketball Coach Brad Underwood said he is devastated by the news.

According to Shutt, NCAA rules allow basketball teams to practice for eight hours per week during this time of the summer.

The workout was reportedly a stairs workout at the university’s football stadium, where the temperature was 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

Coger, a 21-year-old forward who had recently transferred to OSU, did not appear to be struggling during Thursday’s workout at Boone Pickens Stadium, OSU spokesman Gary Shutt said Friday at a news conference.

Shutt said Coger did not seem to have problems during the workout, but at the end of the drill, he sat down at the top of the stairs. Coger was pronounced dead 78 minutes later at an area hospital. That time can be broken up as two hours on the count and six on strength and conditioning, or all eight on strength and conditioning.

The newspaper reported that Coger had to go back and forth between Eastern Florida State College and Raleigh to obtain the necessary medical clearances to resume his basketball career.

On Instagram, Wall posted a screenshot from the YouTube video and wrote: “Rest in peace to the lil homie who always had the competitive spirit”. At a camp in 2012, a trash-talking Coger challenged Wall to a one-on-one.

The Oklahoma State athletic department is slated to hold a news conference on Friday morning.

The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office saysOklahoma State basketball player Tyrek Coger died from an enlarged heart and that the manner of death was natural.

The school said Thursday that the 21-year-old forward was pronounced dead at Stillwater Medical Center. Oklahoma State plans to release more details Friday about the death.

Coger, who was a redshirt sophomore at CFCC last season, had just arrived on campus at Oklahoma State on July 5. Due to a Southeastern Conference junior college transfer rules, which state a player must attend a school full time for three straight semesters, he made a decision to attend OK State instead.
