Osweiler, Trevathan lead Broncos to 17-3 win against Bolts

Despite catching just 10 of 28 passes thrown to him by Osweiler, nobody has more yards than Thomas since the switch at quarterback, although that comes with a caveat: Emmanuel Sanders had been hurt and he missed the game against the Bears.

The Broncos got an opening drive touchdown pass from Osweiler to Demaryius Thomas and Trevathan had a pick six against Rivers as Denver took a commanding 17-3 lead at halftime.

Philip Rivers could not guide the San Diego Charges to the end zone the entire game.

Thomas finished with a game-high 61 yards on six receptions. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman combined for 172 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots, and those two will need to be on-point for Gary Kubiak’s offense to function. Will that continue today when they take on the San Diego Chargers? Miller had a game-him two sacks; the Broncos totaled four. Quarterback Philip Rivers tried to find tight end Antonio Gates but threw it at linebacker Danny Trevathan instead.

Brock Osweiler wanted to show everyone that he can do things on his own as well. Chargers receiver Dontrelle Inman was stretchered off the field with a neck injury, and cornerback Brandon Flowers was carted off the field with a knee injury. Denver had to settle for a field goal but more importantly is the amount of time Denver held the ball.

While the defense was in stellar, stingy form, the offense put together a few drives that ate up the clock.

The Denver Broncos got a first-quarter offensive touchdown and a first-quarter defensive touchdown on the way to beating the San Diego Chargers, 17-3, on Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium. From a fantasy football perspective, the Chargers allow more points to RBs than any other team in the NFL.

The Broncos extended their lead in the AFC West with the win, improving to 10-2 on the season while the Chargers fell to 3-9 and are plummeting. That was San Diego’s first mistake.

It is Osweiler’s first cover and he has some catching up to do. Although Vernon Davis went down, he did bounce back up but rattled with pain. They scored zero in the second half, and never really seemed to move the ball well after their first drive (which resulted in a fairly easy touchdown).

“They’ve got a lot of guys who can rush”, a resigned Rivers said. But to Brock’s credit, this is only his second interception in three games.
