On Thursday evening, Modi appealed to business to invest in a more transparent India in a speech at the Guildhall, a historic building in the heart of London’s financial district.

Before Modi took to the stage, the audience was treated to a lavish spectacle featuring rapper Jay Sean, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Scottish bagpipers.

Narendra Modi is due to speak at Wembley Stadium. Slick videos highlighted India’s economic prowess, in a muscular production underscoring the country’s shift from British colonial possession to a global power courted for its vast markets, deep-pocketed investors and strategic importance.

“I think Britain can really help to deliver PM Modi’s vision for India”, he added.

Modi is expected to speak to a crowd of over 60,000 British Indians, and the day’s events will culminate with the “biggest firework display in the whole country”.
