Out against Hull City

Some of the Arsenal players have been celebrating on social media after Arsenal eased to a 4-1 victory over 10-man Hull City at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Nigerian-born Alex Iwobi got two assists for Arsenal while Robert Snodgrass netted a 79th-minute penalty for the Tigers after substitute Dieumerci Mbokani was brought down by Petr Cech.

Arsenal reacted again, though, as Sanchez grabbed his second and Granit Xhaka opened his account in stunning fashion to wrap up a 4-1 win that Coquelin believes bodes well for the season ahead.

“He’s doing very well”, Wenger said of the former Manchester United assistant manager. A loss would leave them with seven points from five games.

The Gunners seemed to be cruising against 10 men Hull City after Jake Livermore was shown a red card for a deliberate handball, which also resulted in a penalty which Alexis Sanchez missed.

Sanchez had already put his name on the scoresheet and later added Arsenal’s third goal on Saturday, but Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic saved his effort from 12 yards and Wenger confirmed Cazorla was above the Chilean striker in the club’s list of penalty takers. Walcott found the back of the net easily.

“He says with that strike I shouldn’t be on the bench, you need to play me from the off”, Keown said on the BBC’s Final Score programme. He played a lovely one-two with the influential Iwobi, with the 20-year-old backheeling a defence-splitting pass.

Arsenal: Cech 6; Bellerin 7, Mustafi 6, Koscielny 6, Monreal 6; Coquelin 7, Cazorla 6; Walcott 7, Ozil 6, Iwobi 8; Sanchez 7.

News has emerged today that Mike Phelan has been offered the job as the permanent Manager of Hull City. “Left-footed players, usually they have that”.

“We had a big shock in our first game and I said straight away after that first game that we face a mental test to see how well we respond”. Santi Cazorla may well be awarded a rest as he played both games, but the Spaniard can’t be counted out as he scored the victor against Southampton and had two assists to his name so far this season. I don’t know why it did not happen; we have [a] pecking order, it was not planned for Sanchez to take it.
