Outgoing British PM David Cameron will ‘miss the roar of the crowd’

Larry the cat can keep his job as well as his home in Downing Street after it was confirmed that he would be spared eviction when Prime Minister David Cameron leaves on Wednesday. “Sadly I can’t take Larry with me”.

The Conservative leader said he wanted to scotch “the rumor that somehow I don’t love Larry”.

In return, Mr Corbyn thanked Mr Cameron’s mother for her fashion advice – the Prime Minister had previously given the Labour leader a dressing down telling him his mother would say he should straighten his tie.

“As I leave for the last time my only wish is continued success for this great country which I love very much”.

While she might be characterised as “socially illiberal”, Lee said, May set out on Monday an economic programme as prime minister-in-waiting that was particularly left-leaning.

She is expected to briefly address the nation before meeting top officials, including Cabinet Secretary Sir Jeremy Heyward, and receiving a full national security and defence briefing.

Home secretary Theresa May has already been declared the new leader of the Conservatives after energy and former City minister Andrea Leadsom withdrew from the contest to succeed Cameron.

Buckingham Palace has released an image of May offering a deep curtsy before the monarch, denoting that she has accepted the queen’s invitation to form a government.

She paid tribute to Mr Cameron as a “great modern Prime Minister” who had stabilised the economy, reduced the deficit and increased employment, but whose greatest legacy would be social justice measures like the legalisation of gay marriage and the removal of the low-paid from income tax.

“Even more serious than the Strictly Come Dancing One…”

Saying his goodbyes to his colleagues at a good-natured question-and-answer session, Mr Cameron declared that his party was 2-0 over its Labour rivals in giving the country a female prime minister.

In an emotional final speech, he said: “I will miss the roar of the crowd”.

After he offers his own resignation, Cameron will recommend that the Queen as Britain’s Head of State invites Theresa May to take charge of the new government.

He then walked away from no. 10 hand in hand with his three children and wife – and headed to Buckingham Palace to meet her Majesty the Queen.
