The Starz series entered its first season with a built in fanbase.

Of the two, Culloden got short-changed. All that time, Claire assumed Jamie had died in the Battle of Culloden, immediately after he sent her back to the future through the stones at Craigh na Dun.

There are reports that the “Outlander” Season 2 finale actually makes ground for a ideal opening of Season 3.

According to Carter Matt, season 2’s finale will finally air on July 9 after being delayed by the fourth of July festivities. After so much time invested in trying to avert Culloden, it seems necessary to show more of it than was given screentime here. But logic prevailed, because if Geillis had met Claire she would definitely have remembered her and then when Claire arrived in the 18 century it would be like, “Oh, you’re that woman I met at the pharmacy that day” or whatever.

Matthew B. Roberts: And you’re a non-book reader? But now that we know, thanks to Reverend Wakefield’s research, that Jamie somehow survived the slaughter, in 1968 Claire must go back through the stones to find her husband. “Dragonfly In Amber” was a fitting finale to a season that took the show from good to great. “Her rules of time travel have evolved and are spread out over many books and many characters and many scenarios”.

“You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll feel the gambit of emotions”, Davis shared to ET last week.

“The technology now, between real ships like what they have in Black Sails and CG, it’s now developed to a place where you can believe it”, Moore said.

Claire happens to find Gillian’s flyer at the house and recognizes her former friend. Maybe it was the hair, which took me out of every scene ’60s Claire was in, but this version of the character needs some work. The much bigger question is how the show will write around not having Jamie and Claire together. It was so emotional in part because it put Claire nearly in the viewer’s position – as she walked through the museums and the ruins and the battleground, she scoffed at inaccuracies (like the exalting of Prince Charles) and both smiled and was somewhat wounded by the reminders of those she knew and loved (Murtagh’s signature on the document, the wedding gift found on the battlefield that she had given to Jamie). But Dougal is ruled by his love of Scotland and his belief in Bonnie Prince Charlie, and anything that gets in the way of that, as far as he’s concerned, is an obstacle that needs to be removed.

Claire begged him to let her stay, but Jamie insisted that she returned to the 1940s because she was pregnant and he knew Frank would keep her safe.

The show’s core will always be Jamie and Claire, but it’s going to be fun to see Brianna and Roger’s relationship grow.

Outlander Season 2 concludes Saturday at 9/8c on Starz.

As for Jamie and Claire, Outlander’s season premiere already provided some clues as to where exactly – both in time and space – Claire will be by the finale.

That feeling of dread is only underlined with the time stamps that accompany each cut back to the 1700s from the 1960s (more on this later), the minutes slipping away serving as a makeshift countdown to the heartache that’s been brewing since the first moments of the season and Claire’s return to Frank.
