Over 30 people burned in Tony Robbins’ hot-coals walk

“As a result, a large number of these people sustained burn injuries to their feet and lower extremities”, Evans said in a statement. The severity of the injuries was not known, but Evans said most people elected not to be taken to a hospital. Tony Robbins was giving one of his self help seminars in Dallas, Texas when he had several of his followers attempt to walk over hot coals.

Trainers for Robbins’ motivational seminars told News 8 walking on coals is a very emotional experience for people, and that participants were doing something they didn’t think was possible.

The hot coals were spread outside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center as part of a Robbins seminar called “Unleash the Power Within”.

CBS reports Dallas police used a DART bus as kind of staging area for Tony Robbins supporters who were injured but didn’t need to be taken to the hospital.

He said the difference Thursday was that it appeared staff members didn’t allow the coals to cool enough before adding more to the pile, which was about 3 to 4 feet wide and about 20 feet long.

“Someone unfamiliar with the process of the fire walk called 911 reporting the need for emergency services vehicles to be dispatched”.

Representatives for Robbins did not immediately respond to an inquiry from The Washington Post.

Such fire walks are not uncommon at Robbins’ seminars, which can range from about $1,000 up to $3,000. As always there were trained medical and event staff at the fire walk specifically to offer quick and easy remedies for any soreness.

But walking on the hot coals was too much for some.

“From my observation, there was someone in front of us and someone behind us on their cell phone, taking selfies and taking pictures”, said Jacqueline Luxemberg, who completed the fire walk.
