Overnight Subway Service in London to Serve 50000 a Weekend

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has launched London’s first ever weekend Night Tube service – a truly exciting moment for London. Often after closing time, I am left with a sense of dread that I am now in my own Hunger Games, fighting to get home with no transport or directional awareness.

“The new 24-hour service will definitely be more convenient for Hong Kong tourists to get around, but I don’t think it will affect the number of tourists visiting London”, he said.

“At a time of economic uncertainty- particularly following the Brexit vote – this is a welcome boost to London’s economy”, London First said in a statement.

The trial is in response to the new Night Tube schedule, which will offer a 24-hour service on Fridays and Saturdays. It can’t be beyond the wit of a full-time mayor and TfL to make this work properly.

“This is about offering access to people who work in London throughout the night as well as those who enjoy the entertainment of London as well”, said Steve Griffiths, chief operating officer for the night tube. “I’m really pleased and proud that finally the Night Tube is here”, the Pakistani-origin mayor said.

But transportation officials were not always so keen.

To meet expected demand there will be six trains per hour through central London on all Night Tube lines between 00:30 and 05:30.

Riders have been promised a round-the-clock service on the world’s oldest subway system.

We will charge standard off-peak fares for travelling on the Night Tube.

An underground train arrives at St. James’s Park in London on August 17. A similar service operated when the city hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 2012.

Extensive planning behind the scenes went into the Night Tube launch.

The city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, was among those to board the first Victoria line service in the early hours of Saturday.

The plan for Night Tube was first announced in November 2013 with an aim to start the service in September past year.

“New York has had one for more than a century for example, so it’s taken a while to catch up, said Lutton”.

For Mayor Khan, the Night Tube is a massive economic boost to the United Kingdom capital two months after the vote for Brexit.

Above ground, however, businesses ranging from hotels to pubs and retailers are hoping for an immediate fillip from the introduction of a service tipped to add as much as £77m to London’s economy annually and generate up to 2,200 new jobs.
