Mr Bryant said the MPs – from various political parties – had been sent the same email threat with a photo of a beheaded person and a message saying they and their families would be killed.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Emily Thornberry denounced the party’s national executive committee (NEC), voicing support for Corbyn despite scores of resignations in his shadow cabinet.
“I think it would be for the leadership of the Scottish Labour party to determine what our position is in respect of that”.
Owen Smith has risked undermining the Scottish Labour party after admitting that he wouldn’t oppose a second referendum on Scotland’s independence.
In a Facebook post, the MP expressed her disgust at party members being blocked from taking part in the election.
Councillor Richard Tullett, chair of the Rutherglen CLP, said: “Labour members met recently and, after an excellent discussion, supported Owen Smith for the leadership of the party”.
“I think all of those promises [made in 2014] were contingent on Labour being in power, and Labour isn’t in power”, said Smith.
32% said they would leave Labour to join a Corbyn-lead new party should he lose; and 18% said they would leave to join a Corbyn-opposing new party, should Smith lose.

The promise is part of a wider announcement of the Labour leader’s digital policies, including a commitment to universal high-speed broadband and mobile connectivity across the United Kingdom, and to new online learning resources.
Since that time the number of members and registered supporters has soared by some 450,000.
