Owens to defend Universal title at WWE Live Manila
Owens claimed the title this Monday (Tuesday, Manila time) after pinning Rollins, with unexpected help from WWE CEO Triple H, in the fatal 4-way elimination match on Raw. First, to be eliminated was Big Cass as no one expected him to win the game. First Triple H would pedigree Roman Reigns and thus having Seth Rollins pin him.

WWE’s latest casualty Finn Balor stopped by Jim Ross’ podcast, The Ross Report to talk about his injury, because, you know, what else would he talk about?
The pair then celebrated in the ring together as Triple H raised Owens hands in victory. However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter(via Cageside Seats) debunks the idea, saying that at least Mick Foley, Stephanie McMahon, Kevin Owens, and Seth Rollins all fooled many insiders with their acting ability at the conclusion of the match, and they all knew what was going on.
He floored Owens with a Superman Punch, speared Rollins at ringside, then readied himself to recapture a world title.
Owens just had to cover Rollins to become the new WWE Universal Champion.
Last night, immediately after KO’s win, former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor, who has a history with Kevin Owens at NXT where they fought over the NXT title, congratulated the new champ.
That “slack” has come from people like Bret Hart – repeatedly – after incidents like John Cena’s broken nose, or Sting’s neck injury at Night of Champions.

These two will build up a huge feud for the upcoming weeks to the much excitement of the WWE Universe. What happened at this week’s main event was not only a surprise, but it completely set out a fresh new direction for the show, which most fans had been seeing as losing the brand split to “WWE SmackDown Live” so far.
