A criminal complaint filed in the case says police were called to French’s Creek Wildlife area in Columbia County last Thursday, after individuals found a camping bag that was moving.

Sheriff Richards says his office has received a tremendous amount of offers of support for the care and rehabilitation of “Misty”, the abandoned black lab. Richards says anyone interested in contributing toward the care of Misty should contact the Columbia County Humane Society.
She said the dog later appeared to be having seizures, so she took the animal for a ride.
The dog, Misty, was found by four hunters in the town of Fort Winnebago zipped in large bag with head injuries, officials said.
The humane society said they were notified by the Colubmia County Sheriff’s Department to come and pick up the dog near the hunting grounds north of Portage. Authorities say the dog had no collar, nor was there a microchip implanted in the dog.
Benson said she found her Thursday flip-flopping on the floor of the bedroom in her home in Pardeeville. “We don’t know what her future holds at this time but we and the Portage Veterinary Clinic will do what we can to help her”. Humane Society Executive Director Susan Bratcher told WKOW television in Madison that the dog is, “curious and friendly, despite her ordeal, and is recovering”.
The humane society said the doctor scored the black lab’s body condition as a 1 out of 9. She had a large mammary tumor, and needed 19 staples to close the wounds on her head.

Questions of whether the dog will be available for adoption depend largely on the outcome of the investigation and on the dog’s health.
