Oxford Student Arrested for Campus Shooting Threat
Sakamoto is accused of “making terrorist threats against the university as a result of a social media message that she posted early Sunday morning”, the university said in a statement.

That message said, “I’m shooting up the school”. Tomorrow. Stay in your rooms, ‘ reads the message.
Police arrested a female student at a United States university who threatened to open fire on classmates, authorities said today, as the U.S. grapples with a spate of campus shootings.
Emory University Police arrested the student who made the local threats on Sunday, according to a statement.
According Emory Police reports, several Oxford College students saw the message, took screen shots and called 911.
An Emory University student told 11Alive’s Blayne Alexander the threat was posted to Yik Yak, an anonymous messaging service.
“Late last night a message on social media said the writer intended indiscriminate acts of violence toward persons on the Oxford College campus”, Bowen wrote.
Police quickly began investigating the origin of the post and identified Sakamoto as the one who wrote it.
Sakamoto, a sophomore, was still in custody at Newtown County Jail on Monday, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The sophomore student was transported to the Newton County Detention Center.

Sakamoto was named to the Oxford campus’ merit list in March, meaning she maintained a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in the fall 2014 semester.
