Ozil has ‘taste’ for goals – Wenger

This was a great display, but frankly the opposition was poor.

Despite leading 3-0 by the 46th minute, Wenger’s team kept their foot on the gas and the Frenchman had no qualms about running up the score because he believes fine-tuning his attack will pay dividends in the long run.

“We scored early and maybe eased off a bit defensively, it’s amusing because the more goals we scored the better we defended”.

Ozil scored three times in the second half as the Premier League giants thrashed Ludogorets 6-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Gunners have won seven games in a row in all competitions – scoring 23 goals – and are unbeaten in 11 matches.

Ozil’s first ever hat trick edged Arsenal ever closer to a late November showdown with Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates to decide who will top Group A.

Despite Arsenal’s good start to this season, Iwobi said they are working on the mental side of their games this season. But when asked about his goals, Walcott again praised the collective.

Arsenal did not have things all their own way, though, and Ludogorets soon began to create chances of their own, with David Ospina being called into action to keep out Wanderson and Jonathan Cafu midway through the half.

Ozil then fluffed an opening, failing to connect sweetly when gifted the ball on the edge of the area by Moti’s poor clearance.

Arsenal opened up the lead 12 minutes in with quite a bang; Alexis Sanchez escaped beyond the offside trap up the left, and as the Ludogorets defenders caught up to him, he cut inside and curled a chip over the keeper into the far corner.

Ozil nearly turned provider for a fifth with a little over 20 minutes left, lifting a no-look chipped pass over for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who saw his first-time volley kept out by Stoyanov.

And it almost proved to be costly because Arsenal needed Ospina to intervene with Misidjan in on on goal again before Wanderson fired a shot agonisingly wide.

Still somehow unscathed, Arsenal promptly killed the game, with Walcott firing home from 20 yards.

Stoyanov responded by getting down to repel Oxlade-Chamberlain’s volley, but he was helpless as Ozil added his second and Arsenal’s fifth. However, it is a testament to Arsenal’s current form that they cantered to a 6-0 victory.
