Shetler was found after a six-hour manhunt while he was walking near a power plant outside of New Florence at 3 a.m. New Florence is located 56 miles east of Pittsburgh, USA Today reported.

Reed, who had more than 20 years’ experience as a police officer, died of his wounds.

Shetler hasn’t yet been charged with a crime, but Limani said he expected a warrant to be obtained Sunday for his arrest.

Limani said a female involved in the domestic situation suffered minor injuries.

Shetler’s girlfriend called police to report that Shetler was breaking things and shoving her while he was drunk during an argument at about 9 p.m. Saturday.

Reed’s funeral will be Friday at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown.

Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck told The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Shetler faces two other counts related to the domestic situation.

Whatever happened, Limani said, Shetler knew his girlfriend had called police before grabbing the rifle to leave.

From inside the home, Ms. Luther told police she could hear someone yelling, “Ray, put the gun down, put the gun down”.

Kenley said her nephew “is a very respectful and sweet guy who would do anything for anyone”.
