A handwritten note was left in the home, leading investigators to believe this was an apparent murder-suicide. Three quarters of those deaths occur while the women attempt to leave the relationship or have already left, according to Domestic Abuse Shelter.

The bodies were identified as Megan Short, 33, her husband Mark Short, 40, and their three children, 8-year-old Liana, 5-year-old Mark, and 2-year-old Willow. “16 years.” Burke said Megan told her she had planned to move to Yardley. At this point, it’s not clear whether Mark Short or his wife, Megan Short, carried out the gruesome attack, which killed both parents, all three children, and even the family dog in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania.
About a week ago, Short posted on Facebook that she needed a few people to help her move from her Brookfield Manor home August 6, according to Angie Burke, who resides on the same Sinking Spring street as Short. A week ago, Megan Short appelaed on Facebook for help moving out of the Brookfield Manor home, the Reading Eagle reported.
The Short family was featured in news stories about their difficulties getting medication for their youngest daughter, Willow, who had a heart transplant, according to The Associated Press.
Willow Short was never supposed to survive.
But a heart donor was found – and Willow underwent surgery one week after she was born.
“This is an apparent tragic domestic incident”, Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said in a statement. “There are very few moments when you can clearly see your life as separated into the before and after”, she wrote on the site Philly at Heart”. “I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have her as my wife and the mother of my three fantastic children”. Once the autopsy is complete, authorities were going to announce “the date and time” of a news conference.
Short had commented on a link to an article about domestic violence on Ms Burke’s Facebook page.
“It really does a number on your mental health for sure”, Short commented.
“Someone else’s child died so that my child could live”, Megan Short told the Reading Eagle in 2014.
Later, she added: “This is why I am leaving my marriage Angie”.

Short that she was struggling with her daughter’s congenital heart condition, police have tentatively ruled the deaths as murder-suicide by one of the parents. “I am so thankful”.
