Packers fan angry Cam Newton grabbed his illegal banner

After a second-quarter touchdown, Newton gave the ball to a young Panthers fan in the stands. “Either somebody was going to take it off, or I take it off”.

And the Carolina quarterback is definitely not the type who is going to tolerate seeing a banner for another team hanging in the Panthers’ stadium.

Cam Newton was determined to protect the Carolina Panthers’ house on Sunday at all costs.

Newton noticed the sign during pregame events at the stadium and grabbed it. He was told that Newton destroyed the banner in the locker room.

Coach Ron Rivera said the Panthers can’t put themselves in that position. “I just need to play football, do my thing and it will work itself out”, he added.

Dobs’ banner was approved by security before it was brought into the stadium and was deemed in compliance with rules.

Likening the Packers sign in the Panthers stadium to “sell[ing] a Whopper at McDonald’s”, Dobbs said he didn’t mean disrespect to anyone. It’s replacing the one Newton ripped down before Sunday’s game in Charlotte.

Dobs, a recent candidate for Fayetteville City Council, said Monday he has received at least one threatening phone call and a few threats via the Internet from people who think he’s fishing for money from the Panthers or Cam Newton. The moment happened after Newton sought the ball from Julius Peppers who tossed it away.

“I didn’t even talk about it. We had enough to talk about as a team just from a pure football standpoint”, McCarthy said when asked if he had addressed the issue with the team Monday. According to the report, Toler’s father had promised to take Colin to a Panthers game but died from a medical condition.

“I’d like an apology from Can Newton for one thing”.

“The sign was dangling…either somebody has to take it off or I take it off”, Newton said.

The Carolina Panthers completed their tour of three elite quarterbacks in four games by beating Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers 37-29.

“We’re going to come up against a Tennessee Titans team that is playing well”.

Dobs and his family brought their 8-foot banner to Sunday’s game in Charlotte. However, team spokesman Steven Drummond said he’s not sure at this point if contact has been made with the family and what they plan to do for them.
