Packers fans disappointed after Hall of Fame Game canceled

Attorney Michael Avenatti told the Associated Press that fans traveled from other states to attend the game, including Colts and Packers fans who traveled from IN and Wisconsin to the site of the Pro Football Hall of Fame IN Canton, Ohio.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame on Monday posted its refund policy on its website, offering to reimburse fans only for the price of tickets bought directly from the Hall of Fame. Honoring the legends of the game, the Hall of Fame finishes off their weekend with the Hall of Fame Game, signaling the start of the 2016 NFL Preseason.

There are plans by the city to expand the stadium the game is played in and renovate the hotels around it as well, and this is not the first time that the Hall of Fame Game was cancelled.

The NFL season didn’t kick off Sunday night after all.

According to the report, a large amount of the field’s issues came down to the application of the paint. Suisham pushed for better conditions this season, and he was one of the main reasons that the league was monitoring the field pregame.

As the AP points out, Sunday’s game wasn’t the first National Football League exhibition game to be called off. How can you have a field not ready to go?’ Well, the Hall of Fame is sort of separate and gets run a little different from the league. Quarterback Brett Favre played most of his career in Green Bay, and former Head Coach Tony Dungy led the Colts to a Super Bowl win.

In the memo, which was obtained by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Vincent said, “ultimately I am accountable for ensuring the field is of the highest standard”.

At one point about 2.5 hours before the game, stadium workers applied a substance that appeared to be paint thinner in an effort to remedy the issue. The delay threw off the timetable for preparing the field, which included the touch-up painting that left portions of field unsafe due to adhesion from the paint. And while the league and the Hall spun the cancellation as a “Player Safety” concern and are patting themselves on the backs for making such a decision, many fans in attendance were livid. Then the independent field tester noticed problems with the paint, and efforts to break up the clumps only created other problems.
