Packers honor Favre, but fall to Bears 17-13

While Green Bay turned Thanksgiving into homecoming for Brett Favre, it was only appropriate that a gritty, Favre-like – sometimes head-scratching, always fearless – gunslinger would steal the show.

That belief was undone on Thursday night.

“Let’s make it clear – we’ve been successful here, and success, you don’t own success, it’s rented”.

Cutler also got lucky to recover a fumble on a bad shotgun snap that probably would’ve changed everything the way things go for the Bears in Wisconsin.

This is another odd week for the Packers with back-to-back Thursday night games on the schedule.

Practice on Sunday was akin to a midweek practice for a normal game week. “A lot of credit goes to him”.

The Arizona Cardinals have placed outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley on season-ending injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle and signed defensive tackle Red Bryant.

Many expected Adams to step in and help fill some of the void left by Nelson. Adams was hobbled by a sprained ankle in Week 2.

“We didn’t get it done tonight and really I think one of the biggest factors was handling the football”, McCarthy said.

On third-and-7, Rodgers connected with Adams for eight yards, setting up first-and-goal at the eight.

It was a key stop for the Bears in a key win that has to be considered momentous in Fox’s first-season turnaround effort. “Gotta fix that”, Adams said. Two clutch third-down conversion catches by Marc Mariani proved pivotal on the drive.

McCarthy urges a focus on fundamentals.

“I’m waiting to get (feeling) back in a couple fingers, but it’s OK in the first three”, Rodgers said after the game.

Before getting hurt, Romo didn’t look anything like the only quarterback to beat multiple teams with records of 9-0 or better.

“We’re just on different pages”, Rodgers said of himself and his receivers.

There he sat in his personal house of horrors ready to feast away six years of frustration. I thought (backup wide receivers Joshua Bellamy) and (Marquess Wilson) stepped in there and had a heck of a day for us. In the other loss, the Packers finished with 29 points against Carolina, but needed a late rally after failing to gain a first down on seven of the first 12 possessions.

It wasn’t the result the Packers wanted on the field, losing to the Bears 17-13 in a exciting contest, but there was true excitement at halftime as well.

“(First place is) obviously a good place to be, but it doesn’t matter unless we take care of business (at Atlanta)”, safety Harrison Smith said. “So, yeah, it’s something that we’ve got find a way to correct it fast”. That gave Green Bay a 10-7 lead.

And if somehow a square inch of fabric or skin avoided the water pelting fans from the heavens, it nearly surely didn’t escape the droplets flying from the tens of thousands of drenched No. 4 flags fans held aloft in a salute to Favre, the record-setting quarterback whose arrival in 1992 sparked the franchise’s return to greatness after more than two decades of futility in the post-Starr years.
