Packers’ Rodgers: Lost feeling in hand on hit

With gratitude showering down from the stands, Favre expressed his thanks for his unforgettable career. Also honored was a fellow Packers legend quarterback, Bart Starr, according to Yahoo Sports. He watched his number unveiled high above the north end zone next to Reggie White’s No. 92. If they want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they have to find a way past a team that has lost to them just three times since Aaron Rodgers became the started in 2008.

He was able to return to action in the Packers’ next series, but with his team down 17-13 in the fourth quarter.

“Brett, on behalf of the Green Bay Packers organization and our fans, welcome home”, said Mark Murphy, Packers President and CEO.

Cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted Rodgers’ pass with 3:19 left at the Bears 45 on the previous drive. The ball hit off Adams’ hand and fell incomplete. Rodgers finished 22-for-43 for 202 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception.

The passing game, though, continues to have issues.

Two weeks ago, when the Chicago Bears routed the St. Louis Rams, there was a belief that the game was head coach John Fox’s signature victory in his first season with the Bears.

The story of the night was the Bears secondary.

The Bears shrugged, knowing a victory would be important regardless.

“Those are what we refer to as critical plays in the game, and we’ve got to do a better job converting those opportunities”, McCarthy said. “All these games, there are no cupcakes”. “We all had confidence we were going to stop them”.

Before every Bears game, some of us in the Sun-Times sports department predict a score and write a one-paragraph defense of it for public consumption. “As I’m sure it is for them”.

That was one of the few things the Bears didn’t accomplish. The running game disappears, then reappears. Quarterback Jay Cutler seemed antsy and out of rhythm. “We tried to use the tight ends a little more“.

With the exception of the run game highlighted by Eddie Lacy and James Starks, and the defense, the Packers’ offense was inconsistent and at times, putrid.

But true to this team’s identity, the Bears simply exhaled and kept plugging away.

They did it by shutting out Rodgers and the Packers in the second half, by making Rodgers the seventh quarterback out of 11 this season to be held under 200 yards passing by the Bears defense. Marquess Wilson caught four for 44, and Marc Mariani caught three for 35.

And with Davante Adams shitting the bed week after week, maybe we’ll all eventually get our wish.

Robbie Gould’s 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for Chicago was the only scoring for either team in the second half of a game played dreary conditions. Rodgers owns the Bears in his career, the Packers have owned Cutler, who is 1-11 in his career against them.

But that run was negated by a holding penalty.

At one point during the third quarter, the Packers faced a 3rd-and-15 situation, and things were made worse when a low snap went right past quarterback Aaron Rodgers, forcing him to turn around and chase down the ball.
