Packers take control after slow start to top Redskins

About four minutes later, Green Bay scored on a 12-yard pass from Rodgers to Randall Cobb. He passed for one touchdown and ran for another, and he wasn’t picked off. Tight end Jordan Reed had nine catches for 120 yards and a touchdown for the Redskins, who had won four straight to capture their first NFC East title since 2012.

For Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay Packers offense, the first quarter of their playoff game Sunday looked quite similar to the stagnant way their regular season wound down.

In the second half, the running game took over. Reed was the only offensive player to go over 100 yards, and surprising second highest yardage among receivers came from Chris Thompson.

By the end of the Packers’ win over the Redskins on Sunday, Packers fans seemingly outnumbered the home fans at FedEx Field.

Two more rushing touchdowns from Eddie Lacy and James Starks, before another Crosby field goal, sealed the deal for the Packers, moving them on to the divisional round next weekend.

Today’s Green Bay Packers vs Washington Redskins game starts around the same time as the second Wild Card game did yesterday. On one play, a third-and-three late in the third quarter, he waved at James to move closer to the sideline and proceeded to complete the pass to him for the first down.

And Rodgers added his second scoring toss of the quarter with 28 seconds left, a 10-yarder to Adams that gave the Packers a 17-11 halftime lead.

The Arizona Cardinals will face the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night at 6:15 p.m.at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

The Packers began the fourth quarter by marching the final 50 yards of a 10-play, 76-yard TD drive, with all of the fourth-quarter snaps on the ground. After 17 yards at halftime, the Packers finished with 141 yards on 32 carries. Pierre Garcon, as he dependably does every game, came up with a few timely, much needed catches, but other receivers, including DeSean Jackson hardly made an appearance. But the Washington offense couldn’t capitalize, as Cousins was sacked on the first play of their next drive, putting them in a tough position to get anything going. The offense found their rhythm and the Packers’ defense closed the door.

Cousins put up impressive numbers in his playoff debut – 29-for-46 passing for 329 yards and a touchdown, but he was sacked six times, and lost a fumble on a key third-down drive.
