Packers trade up in 2nd round, take Indiana’s Jason Spriggs
Family and friends celebrate as Carter High School alumni and UCLA product Kenny Clark, is selected in the first round (27th), by the Green Bay Packers during his draft party in Highland, Ca., Thursday, April 26, 2016.

Pete Prisco says Spriggs is Packers’ best pick: “Second-round pick Jason Spriggs is an impressive tackle with a ton of athletic ability”. They also gave a fourth-round pick (125th) and a seventh-round pick (248th) to the Colts, just for the right move up nine spots. The question is whether general manager Ted Thompson and Co. will focus on the rush defense and select an inside linebacker and/or interior lineman early in the draft. Keep in mind that there are few guarantees that players drafted after the first three rounds will surface as starters or even major contributors, but at least the Packers found bodies that might flesh out their roster and push the team closer to the Super Bowl.
“She was always telling me throughout this whole process, ‘I believe you’re going to end up with the Packers, ‘” Martinez said. “To play with a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, that’s a whole other level I’ve never seen”, Spriggs said during Friday night’s teleconference. Hogan was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round as the 162nd pick overall.
“He’s an all-around guy. But Green Bay filled some needs, especially in adding UCLA DT Kenny Clark in the first round to help replace the recently retired B.J. Raji”.
While Spriggs may not be asked to play much in his rookie year, the Packers have three of their starting offensive linemen entering the final year of their contracts in 2016 and there is a high probability they won’t be able to resign all of them. Meaningful football is still months away, so for now we’ll have to pin our collective hopes on a bunch of 21-year-old soon-to-be millionaires.
He also talked to Gutekunst, Green Bay coaches and front office personnel who welcomed him, and Packer media who wanted to know more about him.
Either way, Clark is a beast and a huge pick up for the Packers. “I think that was kind of a goal of ours”.
“I’m gonna treat it the same way”, he said.
It became apparent last season when the passing numbers plummeted, the Packer receivers were having trouble getting separation from defenders or stretching secondaries deep down the field.
Clay Matthews switched over to the inside linebacker position this past season, but the Packers want him back on the outside. The 6-2 receiver was clocked by the Packers as having run the 40-yard dash at about 4.3 seconds. “Just one of those blue-collar football players that the more you watch, the more you appreciate it”. By Dan Kadar’s rankings at Mocking the Draft, Fackrell was rated as the 67th best player overall and the ninth rated linebacker.

The 6-foot-7, 301-pounder from San Clemente, California was particularly great in pass protection in both of his seasons as a starter against some of the best edge rushers in the Pac-12.
