Packers: Wide receiver Jordy Nelson insists he’s ‘ready for anything’

He didn’t play in a preseason game and was limited in his on-field workouts until Tuesday, but Nelson doesn’t feel behind at all and isn’t anxious about it.

Except for Vegas, that is.

Nelson’s return means the Rodgers has his full supporting cast back in Green Bay.

In all honesty, the line for the Packers game is much smaller than I expected it to be and it’s a little bit of a sign that things might be trending up in the right direction, because the Jaguars aren’t opening as a touchdown dog to a perennial playoff team anymore.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Nelson and Cobb are “wired very similar” in that each can play multiple receiving positions, and have a complete understanding of the entire offense.

“We’re not going to put a number on it”, he said. “We’ve discussed it. We’ll play it by snap-by-snap to be honest with you”. There’s a lot of things that could happen differently.

In the other three years when they weren’t simultaneously healthy, Nelson missed four games and parts of two others with a hamstring injury in 2012; Rodgers missed 7½ games with a broken collarbone in 2013; and Nelson missed all of last year with his knee injury.

Weather in Jacksonville is another variable, with the forecast calling for mostly sunny skies and highs in the low-90s on Sunday. That forces the Packers to wear the green jerseys they usually wear during home games at Lambeau Field, according to the Green Bay Packers Blog. “There’s so much that goes into a game – the flow of a game, how it works, the plays that get called, the routes I end up running. Seeing what the weather’s like, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of guys are rotating just to stay fresh”. Things happen throughout a game that, you know, I could run a bunch of short routes all the way down the field and never have a problem. “So I don’t think it will honestly be an issue”.
