According to market estimates, PADMAAVAT produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions is made with a budget of around 180 crores. Asked if the film would cross the Rs 300-crore mark, Adarsh said: “It is too early to say and depends if the film releases in states and places where it hasn’t”.

It had also collected Rs 22.18 crore in the region in three days.

The film based on 16 century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s work “Padmavat” got mired in controversy after various Rajput groups, including the Karni Sena, alleged that it distorted history, a claim denied by Bhansali.

Coming to the movie front, Padmaavat has raked in almost Rs 83 crores in three days. This was followed by Rs 17.75 crore on January 25, Rs 31 crore on January 26 and Rs 27 crore on January 27 and Rs 30 crore on January 28. Even though we could attribute this low collection to the ruckus going on in states like Haryana and Rajasthan, even though everything is well the collections might have surpassed only 25 crores.

Actress Deepika Padukone is in the mood to celebrate. “As our country gives right to expression to everyone, we will ensure that this right is used to its fullest”, he added. Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, released across India on Thursday. They further intensified and went on to become a national issue.
