Padres walk off a victor over Reds
The Reds got on the scoreboard first on Billy Hamilton’s RBI single in the top of the third. Kemp’s removal from the lineup created a problem for the Padres, who were without LF Alex Dickerson (right hip contusion from a collision Friday night) and carrying an eight-man bullpen.

Eugenio Suarez tied a career-high with four RBIs to back Finnegan and two Reds relievers.
Reds: RHP Anthony DeSclafani (6-0, 3.09) looks to win his fourth start of the second half when facing the Padres for the second time this season. Amarista tried to score from third on a pitch that bounced away from Reds catcher Barnhart, who recovered in time to throw back to Bailey for the tag out of Amarista at the plate.
His most recent start last Sunday in Washington was his shortest of the season, lasting only three innings during which he allowed five runs on six hits and a walk with no strikeouts.
Christian Yelich and Jeff Mathis each had three hits and drove in two runs to help lead the Miami Marlins to an 11-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night. After making only two starts since August 2014 and rehabbing from two rounds of elbow surgery (including Tommy John in May 2015), RHP Homer Bailey starts for the Reds on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Petco Park.
The San Diego starter was pulled after 4 2/3 innings in his second start with the Padres, a 3-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Derek Norris then tapped out to pitcher Raisel Iglesias to send the game to extra innings.
“I left a couple of balls over the plate when I had chances to put people away, and I paid for it”, Jackson said.
“I thought the first inning he was over the middle of the plate, a little more than he cared to be”, Green said.
“I liked the gamble”, Padres manager Andy Green said. Jankowski then stole third and scored on Wil Myers’ ground out to Cozart. Phillips followed with an RBI single and Suarez chased in two more with a double to left-center for a 4-0 advantage.
It was among the fine defensive plays the Reds turned in behind Finnegan.
“That feels good and it doesn’t matter where you are in the standings, ” Price said.
“We messed around with it and the one I’m throwing now is working”, he said.

San Diego relievers Ryan Buchter, Brandon Maurer and Brad Hand (3-2) each threw a scoreless inning. Now sporting a 4.70 ERA and an even 1-1 record, Clemens has also registered 19 strikeouts against 14 walks over the course of 23 innings of work.
