Paducah Movie Theater Evacuated after Incident

Police in Kentucky are pursuing charges against a man who allegedly pulled a gun on another moviegoer at a Paducah theater on Saturday (July 23) after a child repeatedly kicked the back of the man’s theater seat, according to the Paducah, Ky., Police Department.

During a showing of “Star Trek Beyond” just before noon, a fight broke out inside the theater. The boy’s father then interceded and the two men started to fight.

They say as the father got the upper hand in the fight, witnesses told them the other man pulled a gun and said, “What the [expletive] are you going to do now?” Three men, including theater employees, escorted the man outside and waited with him until police arrived.

Moviegoers saw the gun and began to run toward the exit.

The unnamed man, who is said to be from IL, is now prohibited from entering Cinemark property.

Staff cleared the particular theater, though it was the only theater affected by the incident, according to the report.

Those who left the theater were allowed back in to continue to watch the movie.

He was not arrested at the time, but police say they plan to seek charges and will present their evidence to the McCracken County Attorney’s Office on Monday.

The Illinois man has a concealed carry permit, reported the station WSIL-TV, but Cinemark prohibits patrons from bringing guns inside its theaters.
