On Wednesday Pakistan’s army demolished Indian armed forces drone which was deployed at the LOC claiming “We shot down an “Indian spy drone”” at Kashmir Border.

Pakistan, this time started violating the ceasefire agreement after Indian and Pakistani prime ministers issued a joint statement pledging themselves to building peace between the two countries.

In the last four days the Indian Army claimed to have killed two militants and foiled two attempts of infiltration from the Pakistani side of the Line of Control, which separates the divided Kashmir. It looks like a Chinese drone, available off the shelf.

Islamabad summoned India’s diplomatic envoy to its Foreign Office and protested over the incident, as well as over what it described as a violation of its airspace the day before. However, there should be no doubt that unprovoked firing from the Pakistani side would meet with effective and forceful response from Indian forces.

Refuting Pakistani charges, the foreign secretary put the onus of peace at the border, on Pakistan. Both countries administer parts of Kashmir separately but claim the region in its entirety.

The two neighbours, however, were back to a blame game today over ceasefire violations with both sides lodging protests.

Pakistan hopes that despite ceasefire violations by India at the LoC and Working Boundary which have also taken place in the past, “Pakistan did not turn away from discussing outstanding issues with India“, said the spokesman. “Those who were killed in the BSF firing were identified as Ghulam Mustafa, 45, Rahat and Boota, residents of village Malana and Salehpur villages in the Chaprar sector near Sialkot”, the ISPR said. “The ceasefire violation has led to the death of a civilian woman in Akhnoor”, Indian High Commissioner TCA Raghavan said.

He reminded that at their meeting in Ufa in Russian Federation on July 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Premier Nawaz Sharif agreed to the meeting of chiefs of BSF and Pakistan Rangers and subsequent meeting of director generals of military operations.

After months of stalemate and recriminations, Modi and Sharif spoke for about an hour while visiting Russian Federation for a regional summit.

The latest round of violations comes ahead of PM Modi’s scheduled visit to Jammu where he will attend the centenary celebrations of former finance minister Giridhari Lal Dogra.
