“Once we raise the expectations of Baloch groups, they must not be dropped if and when relations with Pakistan improve”, an official said.

“Either Pakistanis speak up for Balochistan or others would speak up for the Baloch”, the former Pakistan Ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani, said at an event to pay homage to Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti who was killed by Pakistan forces 10 years ago. The incidents came to light after Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Balochistan in his Independence day speech.

A senior official at a meeting, held earlier this month, said the more hawkish politicians, angered by what they saw as Pakistan’s recent troublemaking in Kashmir, thought differently, and so did Mr Modi.

Speaking to news agency PTI, the Baloch leader sought the help of the worldwide community in the Baloch nationalist movement.

The Baloch leader said, it is for the first time that an Indian Prime Minister has spoken about the issue.

Pakistan today “regretted” India’s virtual rejection of its proposal for talks on Kashmir even as it briefed the ambassadors of the P-5 and European Union countries about the situation there in yet another attempt to internationalise the issue. “I thank Prime Minister Modi for speaking raising the voice of Baloch people in his Independence Day address”, he said and alleged that Pakistani crime against people are a shocker to the global community. “We are political people”.

Pakistan on Thursday called on the worldwide community to play its role in the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, saying it wants to resolve it in a peaceful manner and through result-oriented and sustained dialogue. This was conveyed in a letter by foreign secretary S. Jaishankar to his Pakistani counterpart, that was handed over in Islamabad by the Indian high commissioner two days ago. We are not fools to try our luck again and again with Pakistan.

“If India’s support is just a reaction to the politics and to Kashmir, then it could damage the political struggle”, said Baloch Republican Party leader Brahamdagh Bugti.

India on Friday sharpened its diplomatic attack on Pakistan, identifying it as a source of terrorism in the South Asia region and not just encouraging terrorism in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Stating that his immediate course of action would be to create awareness in the global community, Mr. Bugti, at the same time, also called for military assistance from all countries to be given for the freedom struggle of the Baloch people.

India on Friday asked Pakistan not to remain in a “denial” mode regarding its support to cross-border terrorism as the war of words between the two countries intensified.

Speaking over phone from Switzerland where he had gone for a commemorative event to pay homage to his grandfather, Mr. Bugti urged the worldwide community, including the U.S., North Atlantic Treaty Organisation countries, Israel and India, to help them fight for their cause.
