He made this commitment during a meeting with a high-level delegation of Pakistan Rangers, headed by Director General Major General Umar Farooq Burki, in New Delhi on Friday.

Sources said delegation members from both side have been brain-storming since morning, and the respective DGs of both forces would join them soon.

The talks between BSF and Pakistan Rangers which began on Thursday in order to put a check for continuous ceasefire violations came out positively with a decision to evolve new protocols at the border.

The Pakistani Rangers are in Delhi for three-day talks with India’s Border Security Force to discuss ways of reducing tension along the border.

Pakistan had blamed India of violating its airspace when it shot down a drone in July.

Pakistan is also reported to be seeking revival of the worldwide monitoring of violations in Kashmir, after India has stopped inviting United Nations officials to watch situation in Kashmir.

India strongly objected to infiltration bids by terrorists from Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has promised a tougher response to such violations than previous administrations, and past year the two armies engaged in the most serious exchanges since the 2003 ceasefire.

“The talks will also endeavour to focus on positive issues like different levels of communication, more simultaneous coordinated patrolling and other confidence-building measures”, the BSF had said in a statement ahead of the talks.

The home minister noted, “India is home to all the 72 “firkas” (sects) of Muslims, which no other country has”.

Burki said his country also wanted peace along the border and cordial relations with India and that there could have been some incidents at the border where firing took place due to misunderstanding or by mistake.
