October 18: Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has heaped special praise for West Indies star all-rounder Darren Bravo, who scored a brilliant hundred to frustrate the opposition during the first Test of the three-match series at the Dubai International Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Later Jermaine Blackwood was caught behind off Wahab Riaz on 37 while Roston Chase managed to score only 6 runs.
Bravo’s batting brought the Pakistan team on the back foot and at one point, it looked like he will take his team to victory line and Test cricket will witness its first match where a triple-ton would go in in vain but a screamer from Shah changed everything. Bravo was outstanding. Very heart-warming to see how he played in the first innings and second innings. In the second innings Babar Azam getting out of a no-ball. “Maybe had we batted for another 15 overs, with 400 runs on board we could have got them out early”.
Bishoo took only two wickets in the first innings as Pakistan piled up a massive 579 for three declared but said he knew the pitch would offer more assistance later in the game.
Darren Bravo’s knocks of 87 and 116 helped him return back to the top 20 and is now tied with Pakistan wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed at 20th position while Marlon Samuels moved five places up to 40th following his 76 in the first innings. Bishoo’s plunder and Pakistan’s slump still left West Indies with a daunting target, but they could hardly have dreamed of a better outcome at the start of the day.
Windies captain Jason Holder saw Bravo’s dual hands as the shining lights of the defeat.

“Disappointed we have lost, but there are [a] lot of positives”, Holder said.
Bravo also gave credit to legspinner Devendra Bishoo for keeping the team in the match with an eight-wicket haul in the second innings.

The two teams will play the second Test from Friday (October 21) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
