Pakistan, Belarus agree to enhance bilateral ties

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has left for Belarus on a three-day official visit today (Monday). The Premier will have a one-on-one meeting with Lukashenko followed by delegation-level talks.

Nawaz Sharif will lead Pakistan at delegation level talks.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Food Security Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister for Defense Production Rana Tanveer and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to enhance their bilateral relations in various sectors including trade, agriculture, industry and investment.

Addressing a joint press briefing along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the conclusion of their talks and inking and exchange of 18 agreements, President Lukashenko said his country was ready to jointly fight with Pakistan against extremism, terrorism, illegal trafficking of people, drugs and weapons.

The Prime Minister said we want to expand cooperation between the two countries in trade, defence, and economic sectors.

Alexander Lukashenko recalling the meeting in Islamabad said both the sides had agreed that the visit would be saturated with economic events and would result in the creation of a solid legal base for the two countries.

Referring to President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Islamabad, the Prime Minister said it significantly contributed towards the strengthening of bilateral ties.

The prime minister said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Belarus, which have been on an upward trajectory since previous year.

Flags of Pakistan and Belarus fluttered atop the airport building and a red carpet was rolled out.
