On the same day, gunmen wearing suicide vests stormed a Christian colony near the town of Peshawar, killing one civilian, before being shot dead by soldiers. The attackers exchanged fire with security forces and were killed, the military said, adding that the situation was under control. “It was not immediately clear if any of the suicide bombers had detonated their explosives”, the Associated Press writes. The swift response from security teams was credited with preventing more deaths.
The attacker threw a hand grenade before running into the court area and detonating a bomb, police told the BBC. He said that lawyers, policemen and passers-by were among the 10 people killed in the attack. He said some of the wounded in a critical condition. “We will not spare them, they will be wiped out from every corner of the country”, Sharif said. Eyewitnesses told media that the terrorists detonated at least five explosive devices before opening sporadic firing on the unarmed Christians who ran for cover in haste.
Mardan Bar Association president Amir Hussain said four of the fatalities were lawyers.
Christians are a tiny minority in the majority Muslim nation.

Jamaat-ul-AhrarIt has also said it was behind a massive suicide blast three weeks ago which killed a number of lawyers in the southwestern city of Quetta, as well as the Lahore Easter bombing which killed 75 people. The same group had claimed responsibility for an August 8 attack at a Pakistan hospital that apparently targeted lawyers mourning a slain colleague. The suicide bombers gained entry to the Christian Colony Warsak after hitting a security guard at 5:50 a.m. last Friday. Both Jamaat-ur-Ahrar and IS claimed responsibility.
