Pakistan crushes England to level series
Bayliss’s preference is to make sure players have time to prove themselves, but following England’s 10-wicket loss at The Oval on Sunday, he made it clear that his patience with England’s underperforming specialist batsmen was not limitless.

Pakistan will play five One-Day Internationals (ODI) and a one-off T20I against Pakistan next.
It was a result few predicted after England’s consecutive wins at Old Trafford and Edgbaston saw them bounce back from their convincing defeat at Lord’s. Bairstow took the attack to Pakistan’s bowlers as he twice cover-drove Wahab Riaz for four.
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee, while his teammates have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee.
Bairstow, looking to score at every opportunity and resolute when defence was required, completed his fourth fifty of the series and was well supported by Gary Ballance until the left-hander fished at one wide of off-stump from Sohail Khan for 17.
In the morning session, Pakistan picked up two wickets including the key one of Moeen Ali as England were reduced to 194 for six at lunch.
In the process they ended England s immediate hopes of returning to the top of the world rankings for the first time since 2012 and prevented Cook s side from holding bilateral series trophies against all the other nine Test-playing nations.
England could, had they won at The Oval and seen other results around the world fall in their favour, have moved to the top of the Test rankings.
They have a chance to be in the number one position if Sri Lanka defeats Australia in the final Test of their home series and if India fails to beat West Indies.
Jonny Bairstow fought a lone battle and scored 81 with England dismissed for 253 in its second innings – a lead of just 39 runs as leg-spinner Yasir Shah (5-71) grabbed his second five-wicket haul in the series on the fourth day.
There is still an outside chance Ian Bell, dropped for the series in South Africa last winter, might be brought back for Bangladesh and India.
“It will get down to who is out there who can take their places – are they ready to play Test cricket, have they got what it takes?” he asked.
Stokes has been sidelined with knee and calf injuries this season while Wood has undergone two ankle operations since last playing for England in a Test against Pakistan in Dubai in October. They think the wickets suit us and we win there.
This was Pakistan’s first tour to England since the spot-fixing scandal of 2010, which earned lengthy bans for three of their players.

Both Farbrace and England coach Trevor Bayliss were, when both holding similar roles with Sri Lanka, on the team bus that came under fire from militants as they travelled to a Test against Pakistan at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore in 2009.
