In August 2014, India cancelled talks with Pakistan after Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Delhi consulted Kashmiri leaders ahead of secretary level talks.

“We warmly welcome the latest initiative by the Prime Minister of our country and his Pakistani counterpart to revive the peace process between the two neighboring countries”, Sayeed said in a statement here.

“Such a peaceful atmosphere would allow the people of Jammu and Kashmir to reap fully the benefits of democratic system in which they have repeatedly invested their faith without adequate response so far in terms of solving their problems”, Sayeed said.

War can not end problems and dialogue is the only way to resolve conflicts and issues, Malik said.

“Dialogue should not be for fun, timepass and putting real issues on the back-burner”.

The dinner is being held every year for the Kashmiri leaders.

This is due to the huge amount of subsidy which Indian government gives to its sector and this is the main reason why Pakistan, which before partition, was exporting agriculture items, is now importing those products.

He said that the two countries can not prosper and progress while “keeping the entire Kashmiri nation as hostage for their petty gains”. The last DG talks between the border guarding forces were held in Islamabad in December 2013.

Pasha said Pakistan should “think strategically, not emotionally, on trade issues” and create competition on items being imported from other countries, especially from China.

“The ball is now in India’s court because it was India which wanted to meet Pakistan in Ufa and Pakistan responded positively to that”. Neither can it be sidelined nor ignored.

Both sides agreed to discuss ways and means to expedite the Mumbai case trial, including additional information like providing voice samples.

“These issues are important, but the core issue is Kashmir”.

“The dialogue will only succeed when Kashmiris are also included in the process”, Mirwaiz told the Friday congregation at the city’s grand mosque.

“If they (prime ministers of India and Pakistan) want to move forward… Other issues between the two countries will get settled automatically”, he said.
