Pakistan marks Independence Day; President raises Kashmir issue
Pakistan on Sunday commemorated its Independence Day with national zeal and fervour.

The day dawned with a 31- gun salute in the federal capital and a 21- gun salute in provincial capitals.
Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan can not forget the Kashmiris on this occasion, and will continue supporting them for their just struggle to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
Mr. Hussain mostly talked about internal challenges and importance of eliminating militancy.
He said,”The Independence Day reminds us the unforgettable contributions of great leaders of Pakistan Movement, who devoted their lives for getting an independent state where Muslims of Indo-Pak Sub-continent could live freely”.
“Pakistan can not forget Kashmiris and would continue to support them to get right of self-determination in light of the United Nations resolution”, he said.
“When we remember the Quaid, leaders and workers of Pakistan Movement, our hearts are enlightened with the memory people who have become immortal by sacrificing their lives for the country”, the PM said.
The President earlier hoisted the national flag along with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at an awe-inspiring ceremony.
He also urged the nation to ensure rule of law and service to the people of Pakistan as the core values that would take the country forward.
Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at the provincial capitals and district headquarters besides other important national institutions.
A contingent of the Pakistan Army took charge as guards of the Mazaar from Punjab Rangers.
“I dedicate this year’s 14th August to the freedom of Kashmir”, Nawaz Sharif said in his message for the Independence Day, which will be celebrated today across the country.

The ground and the surrounding areas were lit with thousands of colorful fireworks.
