Pakistan militants accuse India of ‘genocide’ in Kashmir

Up to 3,000 people gathered at a rally in the Pakistani Kashmir capital Muzaffarabad, where militant leaders vowed to launch a civil disobedience campaign on the Indian side of the contested territory.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that the government and people of Pakistan respect the sentiments of their Kashmiri brethren and will “continue to support the Kashmir cause at each and every forum internationally come what may”.

A press release issued by the Pakistan Foreign Office said that Islamabad conveyed “serious concern over the brutal killings of innocent civilians and violation of their fundamental human rights by the Indian Security Forces”.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chairman of the Special Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here on Wednesday and discussed the situation in the Indian-held Kashmir.

India on Monday urged the country to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbours.

It said that a detailed briefing was also given to ambassadors of all permanent members of United Nations security council of United Nations “regarding atrocities of the security forces”. In a statement, he remarked, “The use of state terrorism by India on innocent, peaceful civilians exercising their democratic right of protest in Occupied Kashmir is condemned in the strongest terms”.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry has urged the worldwide community and particularly the Permanent Members of the Security Council to take notice of the gravity of the situation in Occupied Kashmir.

He highlighted the universality of human rights and called upon the European Union and its members to raise their voice against the continued blatant human rights violations of innocent people.

During the briefing he emphasized that India should conduct a fair and transparent inquiry against the individuals responsible for these killings.
