His resignation came after he told the BBC that Islam was behind last year’s anti-government rallies organized by opposition leader Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the handing down of death sentences by the military courts to all those involved in planning and executing Peshawar’s Army Public School (APS) massacre in which more than 150 people, mostly schoolchildren, were killed.

Earlier Nawaz Sharif had represented Pakistan Railways against Pakistan global Airlines (PIA) in a first class class game in 1974.

Relations between Pakistan’s civilian governments and the military have often been tumultuous, with three coups since independence.

According to the interview of the minister, Sharif in a meeting with army chief General Raheel Sharif on August 28 last year shared a tape with him about allege plot, who called Islam in the meeting to confirm it.

To another question, the minister said the civil and military leaderships were on the same page to tackle confronting challenges and defeat terrorism.

While describing about Sharif’s sudden decision to lead the team against West Indies former skipper says, “Just before the World Cup in October 1987, when I was captaining Pakistan, we played a warm-up match against the West Indies at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore”.

Mr Rashid stated that the claims was far from fact because during the sit-ins, he used to be with the Prime Minister and was fully aware of the information.

He also rejected that ex-ISI chief wanted to grab power. He did add, albeit too late to make any difference, that he had not personally heard the tape.

The PTI leader also asked the prime minister to stop the “good cop bad cop drama” and said he should clear his stance by taking action against his ministers for levelling false allegations if he disagrees with them. “Such rumours are irresponsible, and unprofessional”, DG ISPR Major Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a statement on Twitter.
